This contribution investigates the relationship between school anxiety and dysgraphia through the lens of embodied cognition and the educational synaesthesia paradigm. Conducted within the PRIN PNRR 2022 ABMOVE! project, which aims to integrate active breaks into teaching practices, the study addresses the specific need to understand how sensorimotor difficulties in writing translate into anxiety manifestations linked to the bodily dimension of learning. A total of 3,317 primary school students from three Italian regions were examined. Using the Worry Emotionality-Junior (WE-J), which measures the cognitive (Worry) and physiological-behavioral (Emotionality) components of school anxiety, 30 students with certified dysgraphia were compared with 117 students with other specific learning disorders and students without specific learning disorders, through nonparametric analyses (Mann-Whitney U test). The results highlight how the visuomotor integration difficulties characteristic of dysgraphia are reflected in predominantly embodied anxiety patterns, emphasizing the importance of multisensory movement-based educational approaches, such as the active breaks of the ABMOVE!
