"Aliquid stat pro aliquo”. Per una nuova eidos urbana

The essay addresses, according to the optic of the epochal changes of which it is necessary to become aware, the theme of the crisis of the city, of its flows and the dense settlement model through the rediscovery of the relationship between architecture, city and nature based on the physical and transcendent dimension of places, in the sense of the Kantian notion of Stimmung. A notion subsumed within the scope of a broader condition of emotional tonality that permeates the urban landscape understood as the main purpose of architecture; that is the privileged area of theoretical reflection, of the research of poíesis, understood as actio transiens, and of práxis, including as an operational process that finds the meaning of its development within the design action itself. Therefore, it is necessary to rethink an idea of a city able of becoming a physical and eloquent expres- sion capable of recalling something else from itself since, according to the Augustinian formula of the philosophical concept of interpretation, it is aliquid stat pro aliquo. An urban eidos, renewed and ancient at the same time, based on the attitude of architecture to establish some stringent relationships with the places and with the dominant characters expressed in the social relationship forma urbis/ forma agri, containing the value of a ritual and recurrent renewal of that tradition in which, starting from the building to the city, to the territory, form, material issue, wisdom, respect for existing values are combined.

Il contributo affronta, alla luce dei mutamenti epocali di cui occorre prendere consapevolezza, il tema della crisi della città dei flussi e del modello insediativo denso attraverso la riscoperta del rapporto tra architettura, città e natura fondato sulla dimensione fisica e trascendente dei luoghi, nel senso della nozione kantiana di Stimmung. Una nozione sussunta nell’ambito di una più ampia condizione di tonalità emotiva che impregna il paesaggio urbano inteso quale finalità principale dell’architettura; ovvero l’ambito privilegiato della riflessione teorica, della ricerca della poíesis, recepita come actio transiens, e della práxis, compresa quale processo operativo che trova il senso del suo svolgimento all'interno dell’agire progettuale stesso. Dunque, occorre ripensare ad una idea di città in grado di divenire espressione fisica ed eloquente capace di richiamare altro da sé in quanto, secondo la formula agostiniana propria del concetto filosofico di interpretazione, essa è aliquid stat pro aliquo. Una eidos urbana, rinnovata e antica nel contempo, fondata sull’attitudine dell’architettura ad istituire relazioni stringenti con i luoghi e con i caratteri dominanti espressi nel rapporto sodale forma urbis / forma agri, contenendo il valore di un rituale e ricorrente rinnovamento di quella tradizione in cui, dall’edificio, alla città, al territorio, si coniugano forma, materia, sapienza, rispetto dei valori esistenti.
