This paper presents a detailed account of aspects regarding the water supply of the city of Halaesa. It takes as its starting point the results of surveys conducted in previous decades, which documented remains of a long aqueduct—presumably Hellenistic in date—that traversed the entire territory. The discovery of a Roman-era bath complex sheds new light on the system as a whole, given that the aqueduct had previously appeared to terminate at the city limits. However, the absence of springs on the hill of Halaesa implies that the aqueduct must have extended into the city itself.

Abstract
This paper presents a detailed account of aspects regarding the water supply of the city of Halaesa. It takes as its starting point the results of surveys conducted in previous decades, which documented remains of a long aqueduct—presumably Hellenistic in date—that traversed the entire territory. The discovery of a Roman-era bath complex sheds new light on the system as a whole, given that the aqueduct had previously appeared to terminate at the city limits. However, the absence of springs on the hill of Halaesa implies that the aqueduct must have extended into the city itself.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
