Social sustainability and Circular Economy in the wine industry: a literature review

This study explores the social implications of Circular Economy (CE) within the wine production chain from a life cycle perspective through a systematic literature review. The findings reveal that while proposals for circular strategies in this industry are actively evolving, a full integration of social issues in this debate is still far from being reached. Yet several social aspects emerge and are critically examined. This review provides a basis for future research aimed at advancing holistic sustainability assessments of circular strategies in one of the most important agri-food industries worldwide.
