What types of violence lie behind the experience of diasporic motherhood? How does the state, through its systems of education, welfare, and control, exert its power over parent-child relationships in the context of migration? How do these and other forms of violence manifest themselves in women’s everyday lives, in the relationships they maintain, and in their migration trajectories? What forms of violence lie behind the experience of motherhood in the diaspora? How does the state, through its systems of education, welfare, and control, exert its power over parent-child relationships in the context of migration? How do such forms of violence and others manifest in women’s everyday lives, in the relations they inhabit, and in their migration trajectory?The issue of women’s right to education and a gender perspective within the realm of “adult education” today raise multifaceted themes, reflections, and perspectives that highlight the stratified and intersectional nature of the discrimination to which women in the diaspora are exposed, including in formative, educational, and school settings. Based on qualitative research conducted in the Provincial Centers for Adult Education (CPIA) in Turin (Italy) and in informal humanitarian settings and social welfare contexts that serve women in the diaspora, this study offers an analysis of the forms and manifestations of gender inequality from a feminist perspective, taking into account aspects related to human mobility, European border policies, and systems of neocolonial domination that are also embodied in language education practices.
Quali tipi di violenza si celano dietro l'esperienza di maternità diasporica? In che modo lo Stato, attraverso i suoi dispositivi di educazione, assistenza e controllo, esercita la sua forza sulle relazioni di filiazione nella migrazione? Come si configurano questa e altre forme di violenza nell'ordinario delle donne, nelle relazioni che esse intrattengono e nei loro percorsi di mobilità? La questione del diritto allo studio delle donne e una prospettiva di genere nell'ambito dell'“educazione degli adulti” interpellano oggi tematiche, riflessioni e visioni plurime, che mettono in luce la natura stratificata e intersezionale dei regimi di discriminazione cui sono sottoposte le donne in diaspora, anche in ambito formativo, educativo e scolastico. A partire da una ricerca qualitativa nei Centri Provinciali per l'Istruzione degli Adulti (CPIA) della città di Torino, nei contesti dell'umanitario informale e socioassistenziali che si rivolgono alle donne in diaspora, la ricerca propone un'analisi delle morfologie e delle declinazioni della disuguaglianza di genere in ottica femminista, tenendo conto di aspetti che ineriscono le mobilità umane, le politiche di frontiera europee, i sistemi di dominazione neocoloniale che si sostanziano anche nei dispositivi dell'educazione linguistica.
