Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are pathological conditions characterized by the weakening of the cerebral arterial wall, leading to abnormal dilation. If untreated, IA rupture can cause subarachnoid haemorrhage with high mortality risk. Endovascular coiling is a minimally invasive treatment that has proven effective in reducing rupture risk [1], however, the complex geometry of aneurysms and the unpredictable mechanical behaviour of coils make it challenging to predict treatment outcomes. This study developed a fully automated workflow to investigate the relationship between aneurysm geometry and coil embolization outcomes using advanced finite element (FE) simulations.
