Abstract

The research develops a new hypothetical stub moving Model that allows simulation of partial discharge (PD) propagation through power cables. The method enables flexible partial discharge movement through the cable to analyze PD spread, power losses, and voltage stress patterns in full detail. The proposed model applies a transmission line format that utilizes a hypothetical stub moving element to advance and represent localized breakdown events. Stepwise modifications of the stub allow real-time tracking of PD behavior across various insulation conditions and external stress factors. MATLAB Simulink is utilized to solve various models designed for PD simulation along different locations in medium transmission line. Eventually, the model was able to obtain the shape of the PD pulse at various points along the transmission line, considering the impact of losses and cable length on its propagation characteristics.
