New Abha, la grande moschea, il bazar e le residenze, Asir, Arabia Saudita

The New Abha project won second place in an international competition announced by the Governorate of Asir for a new tourist city. The site, southwest of Saudi Arabia, is among the most popular due to its mild climate and landscape, in one of the most rugged regions in terms of geography, where high mountains drop sheer to the beaches of the Red Sea. The design for the new tourist city and its architecture interprets the morphology of the site, crossed from east to west by the wadi and the highway that cuts diagonally across the site, with a soft and evocative line.

Il progetto di New Abha è il secondo classificato di un concorso internazionale indetto dal Governatorato dell’Asir per una nuova città turistica. Il sito, a sud-ovest dell’Arabia Saudita, è tra i più frequentati per il clima mite e per il paesaggio, in una regione tra le più impervie dal punto di vista orografico, le cui alte montagne scendono a picco sulle spiagge del Mar Rosso. Il progetto della nuova città turistica e delle sue architetture interpreta la morfologia del luogo, solcata da est a ovest dal wadi e dall’autostrada che taglia il sito in diagonale, con una linea morbida e di grande suggestione.
