The contribution aims at investigating and discussing the authorship of a newly discovered excerpt on Job 1, 1, 2-3, transmitted in Nicetas of Heraclea’s Catena in Iob, which is attributed to either John Chrysostom or Dionysius of Alexandria according to the manuscript tradition. Based on both internal evidence and a comparison with other patristic sources, it is argued that a Dionysian authorship cannot be ruled out; the excerpt shall therefore be included as dubium in a future edition of the fragmentary works of Dionysius of Alexandria.

Abstract
The contribution aims at investigating and discussing the authorship of a newly discovered excerpt on Job 1, 1, 2-3, transmitted in Nicetas of Heraclea’s Catena in Iob, which is attributed to either John Chrysostom or Dionysius of Alexandria according to the manuscript tradition. Based on both internal evidence and a comparison with other patristic sources, it is argued that a Dionysian authorship cannot be ruled out; the excerpt shall therefore be included as dubium in a future edition of the fragmentary works of Dionysius of Alexandria.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
