Wine, women and love singing are some of the most frequent motifs that recur within the «Carmina Burana» (CB), the famous Middle Latin poetic collection of the 12th-13th centuries. In this paper, after an introductory section on the collection, we try to trace the path of these motifs within the CB, focusing on some of them (CB 92, Anni parte florida, celo puriore; 145, Musa venit carmine; 194, In cratere meo Thetis est sociata Lyeo). The last section of the text is instead dedicated to an in-depth analysis of CB 193 (Denudata veritate), the so-called «Altercatio aquae et vini», a long composition based on the contrast between water and wine.
