Electrospun hybrid scaffolds composed of synthetic and natural polymers are gaining increasing interest for tissue engineering applications. In this work, scaffolds composed of polylactic acid (PLA) electrospun fibers were coated with high molecular weight chitosan at different thickness to create a core-shell microfibrous structure. The scaffolds were fully characterized from a physical point of view and their biocompatibility was investigated by seeding mouse pre-osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells.

Abstract
Electrospun hybrid scaffolds composed of synthetic and natural polymers are gaining increasing interest for tissue engineering applications. In this work, scaffolds composed of polylactic acid (PLA) electrospun fibers were coated with high molecular weight chitosan at different thickness to create a core-shell microfibrous structure. The scaffolds were fully characterized from a physical point of view and their biocompatibility was investigated by seeding mouse pre-osteoblastic MC3T3-E1 cells.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
