This contribution proposes a reflection on the conditions for meaningful reading education in the natural environment. The specificities of an outdoor reading education fall under the umbrella of outdoor learning practices, from which the theoretical frameworks deemed suitable for the specific needs of reading skills will be deduced. The hypothesis is that reading aloud in the natural environment promotes a potentially more complex process of signification than that which can be activated in the classroom, since being in a differently characterised space requires the activation, by the learners, of learning strategies that are different from those usually employed in the indoor context. Open-air reading can thus become a complex experience capable of establishing a network of transformative relationships between reader, text and landscape. With regard to the choice of texts and learning environments, place-based education suggests that the selection and adaptation of texts should adhere to the place where the reading will take place. Reading in the open air will therefore be appropriate if it succeeds in improving learning levels related to reading skills in the Italian language.

Abstract
Reading in the open air will therefore be appropriate if it succeeds in improving learning levels related to reading skills in the Italian language.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
