The dominant narratives reproduce the inner areas of Southern Italy through colonial power structures and paint them with a single colour, that of backwardness. We want to invite you to read Belice (Sicily) with a postcolonial approach in order to recover cultural and historical autonomy, rejecting external stereotypes. We support the need to listen to local voices in order to redefine these territories in all their complexity. In this regard, we will attempt to trace the complex geographies of the Belice Valley through three dimensions: historical-social, economic-political, and cultural.
