Today, innovative naval propulsion systems are addressed as fundamental enablers of sustainable mobility in naval transportation, and electric driven systems- fully electric or hybrid- represent promising technology in such regards. Our previous study proposed an Economic Energy Production Quantity model to optimize the battery size of a full hybrid system considering the related management costs. Based on the previous model, specifically extended, the present work compares the costs of three possible scenarios, namely full hybrid, full electric and full endothermic to assess the management cost to cover a route in the three scenarios, determining the optimality conditions and, consequently, the Value of Information of the transition to more sustainable mobility systems.

Abstract
