This paper presents a comprehensive overview for the design, development, and implementation of a standalone charging station tailored for light electric vehicles. The project unfolds in several distinct phases, each essential for the success-ful realization of the standalone charging station. The initial phase presented in this work consists in the definition of the main characteristics of the station in terms of purpose, mode of use, expected impacts, electrical power supply, smart capabilities, and minimum quality of services to offer. After a brief presentation of the preliminary technological structure of the station, impact analysis is presented for a hypothetical dissemination of the station in various strategic points, such as weakly electrified areas or locations with occasional but high-density vehicle presence. The study concludes with a description of the subsequent project phases and the milestones planned for each of them, such as gathering feedback from stakeholders, optimal sizing of renewable power supply, components identifi-cation, prototyping, laboratory and field testing.
