While the adoption of electric vehicles is accelerating in an unprecedented way, the lack of infrastructure for charging them hinders the development of this market. To compensate for these shortcomings, mobile charging stations that can provide charging services without restrictions on the place and time of the charging process could play a significant role in accelerating the penetration of electric vehicles. Most of the existing research papers are focused on stationary charging stations due to their widespread use. This includes options for battery replacement and wireless charging, which are rarely used due to their crude technology, relatively high construction costs, and difficulty in standardization. The focus of this review is on the technology, benefits and applications of mobile charging stations. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to study the design features of mobile electric vehicle charge unit in order to develop design documentation for the creation of a new project.
