In this account I write about the author, the title, and the age in which was written the small book de met. castr., and also about the way used to draw the plan of the camp, whose ground ps. Hyginus divides into the parties of the army, calculating generally three feet to each rider and 1,20 to each soldier. The work of the surveyor is necessary, so as the author writes, to make stronger some parts of the fortifications, for example the four angles of the vallum that become rounded; through the claviculae the four gates are surer. Some words are very interesting, because they are not used by other authors or they have specific meaning; the speech of the small book, as it seems natural in this kind of writing, is now as a slang, now more or less accurate.
