IL DETERMINANTE CONTRIBUTO DI GINO CORALLO ALLA PEDAGOGIA DEL NOVECENTO

The scientific publications of the Sicilian pedagogist Gino Corallo extend from 1949 to 1988. This intervention takes into consideration his treatise on Pedagogy in two volumes, which saw the light in the Bari decade of his activity as university professor. It is believed that Coral’s treatise has significantly contributed to the recognition of Pedagogy as a science in Italian academic world; specifically he clarified the relationship with moral philosophy and psychology, and identified the specific object and method of pedagogical research. The article focuses on two fundamental contributions of Corallo: the pedagogical demonstration of the possibility of the free act and therefore of freedom as a form of education, the enunciation of the supreme principle of educational method: valorisation.
