In the present paper a fast hierarchical boundary element method for three-dimensional anisotropic elasticity time-harmonic problems is presented. The approach is based on the use of hierarchical matrices for the representation of the collocation matrix, whose admissible low rank blocks are generated by the Adaptive Cross Approximation algorithm (ACA). The performances of ACA are investigated for this kind of problem. The system solution is computed by using the iterative GMRES solver which takes full advantage of the hier archical format. The accuracy of the proposed technique for anisotropic time-harmonic elasticity is assessed together with its effectiveness in terms of the reduction in memory storage and analysis time.

Abstract
In the present paper a fast hierarchical boundary element method for three-dimensional anisotropic elasticity time-harmonic problems is presented. The approach is based on the use of hierarchical matrices for the representation of the collocation matrix, whose admissible low rank blocks are generated by the Adaptive Cross Approximation algorithm (ACA). The performances of ACA are investigated for this kind of problem. The system solution is computed by using the iterative GMRES solver which takes full advantage of the hier archical format. The accuracy of the proposed technique for anisotropic time-harmonic elasticity is assessed together with its effectiveness in terms of the reduction in memory storage and analysis time.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
