The even increasing energy demand and the desire reducing the dependence from fossil fuel are encouraging the diffusion of plants supplied by renewable energy sources. Among these, wind energy is becoming very popular. The last frontier is the installation of huge wind turbines in offshore areas. In this context, the paper wants to assess the potential impacts related to the construction of a new big offshore wind farm, located in the Mediterranean Sea, between Egadi islands, Pantelleria and Mazara (Sicily). The LCA is applied to the case study.

Abstract
The even increasing energy demand and the desire reducing the dependence from fossil fuel are encouraging the diffusion of plants supplied by renewable energy sources. Among these, wind energy is becoming very popular. The last frontier is the installation of huge wind turbines in offshore areas. In this context, the paper wants to assess the potential impacts related to the construction of a new big offshore wind farm, located in the Mediterranean Sea, between Egadi islands, Pantelleria and Mazara (Sicily). The LCA is applied to the case study.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
