I CASTELLI DELLE RIVOLTE. DALLA PIANA DI PARTINICO ALLA VALLE DELLO JATO (PALERMO) SULLE TRACCE DEGLI ULTIMI MUSULMANI IN SICILIA OCCIDENTALE

Following the excavations of the "Castellazzo" fortress of Jato, it became necessary to revise the archaeological materials coming from excavation and reconnaissance in all those fortified sites that welcomed the Muslim population during the revolts between the last Norman and Swabian ages. Attention was thus focused on at least two phases in the construction of such fortresses, often simple towers rather than real castles, corresponding to the beginning of the Norman domination and the Federician period.
