Adolescenti e stile “Young Adult”

Mostly we forget what it means to be a teenager. Very often we forget about one of the most important aspects of the literature: touching the hearts of readers in a way that at the same time entertains and allows them to feel understood and less alone, to feel human. Adolescence is the land of contrasts and of great emotions. The literature can play a useful role by helping adolescents to feel less alone. Reading requires courage: welcoming and recognizing something new means getting involved in it personally. Books offer adolescents a vision of themselves, not only "here and now" but they help giving a reading of their own being that extends into the past and projects itself into the future. This paper analyses the Young Adult style which is particularly rich in sight. It is a cinematographic style that favors action and dialogue rather than actual narration and most probably for this very reason it approaches to the taste of every young reader.

Molto spesso dimentichiamo quello che significa essere adolescenti. Molto spesso dimentichiamo quello che è uno degli aspetti più importanti della letteratura: arrivare a toccare le corde dell’animo e del cuore dei lettori, in un modo che allo stesso tempo intrattiene e gli permette di sentirsi compresi e meno soli, di sentirsi umani. L'adolescenza è la terra dei contrasti, delle grandi emozioni vissute e la letteratura può svolgere una funzione utile aiutando gli adolescenti a sentirsi meno soli. Leggere richiede coraggio, perché accogliere qualcosa, riconoscerla, significa mettersi in gioco personalmente. Il libro offre all’adolescente una visione di sé, non solo “qui ed ora”, ma dona una lettura del proprio essere che si estende nel passato e si proietta nel futuro, permettendo ad ogni soggetto di percepirsi all’interno di una propria storicità. In questo contributo ci soffermeremo ad analizzare in particolare lo Young Adult che è uno stile ricco punti di vista con uno stile cinematografico, che privilegia l’azione e il dialogo anziché la narrazione vera e propria e forse proprio per questo si avvicina al gusto di ogni giovane lettore.
