Silla diventa ben presto un vero e proprio exemplum, prezioso, anche per la sua flessibilità, per costruire una cornice di interpretazione della realtà. E d’altra parte le vicende di Silla sembrano costituire non a caso anche un ottimo dossier su cui imbastire exercitationes di scuola. Con il mito di Silla si confrontano ancora Pompeo e Cesare, soprattutto nella riflessione di Cicerone che alla prevedibile ‘sillanità’ del Grande non manca di associare anche i tratti sillani di Cesare.
