Sustainability, quality of life and creativity are all paths to be followed in the urban transformation processes of the cities of the future. Urban regeneration interventions must aim to form new vital phases within degraded or poorly used urban systems (such as historical centres, suburbs, decommissioned industrial areas, disused railway and port areas, former barracks, etc.). In cities today it is already possible to generate renewed urban landscapes through processes of recovery, creative reuse of abandoned sites, and urban re-cycling, as new and powerful forces of city revitalization. Re-cycling cities mean generating more sustainable, more responsible but also more innovative urban centers that can rethink, reinvent, and redesign the forms of settlement, re-establish relations with the environment and the landscape, and react to scenarios of decline.

Abstract
Sustainability, quality of life and creativity are all paths to be followed in the urban transformation processes of the cities of the future. Urban regeneration interventions must aim to form new vital phases within degraded or poorly used urban systems (such as historical centres, suburbs, decommissioned industrial areas, disused railway and port areas, former barracks, etc.). In cities today it is already possible to generate renewed urban landscapes through processes of recovery, creative reuse of abandoned sites, and urban re-cycling, as new and powerful forces of city revitalization. Re-cycling cities mean generating more sustainable, more responsible but also more innovative urban centers that can rethink, reinvent, and redesign the forms of settlement, re-establish relations with the environment and the landscape, and react to scenarios of decline.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
