Observing the exhibition of didactic outcomes regarding the architectural design labo- ratories of professors Renato Capozzi and Federica Visconti, some aspects strike and they can be assumed as conceptual and theoretical assertions placed as foundation of the entire design process and of the same idea of architecture. The reasoning starts from the claim about the “archaeological city” of Pompeii, as a re- source of architectural and urban knowledge. The results of didactic laboratories show this extraordinary fertility, exercised by the living testimonies of the ancient world and their ability to generate, even today, a poetic reaction. Some goals are recognizable in the didactic action of the Laboratories of Renato Capozzi and Federica Visconti: the aim is to stimulate, through the key of analogy, new interpretations both of Pompeian architecture and of works made by modern and contemporary architects; also this objective, to contribute to coexistence of linear and analogical logical ways of thinking inside the design process, highlighting the idea of imagination inherent in the architectural design itself; nally, the result is to indicate to students the criteria and work paths inspired by analogical thinking. In this way, the ex- ercise of analogy declined in Favignana island – perhaps a reference not immediately intelligible with Pompeii, but that would not have been possible “without studying the relationships that exist between the shape of the house, the shape of the insula and the shape of the city” – dissolve the typological rigor, including in the designs some of the anthropic elements that characterize the landscape of Favignana, in particular the so called Scalo Cavallo, marked by the presence of extraordinary hypogea determined by millenary stone extractive processes.

Abstract
In this way, the ex- ercise of analogy declined in Favignana island – perhaps a reference not immediately intelligible with Pompeii, but that would not have been possible “without studying the relationships that exist between the shape of the house, the shape of the insula and the shape of the city” – dissolve the typological rigor, including in the designs some of the anthropic elements that characterize the landscape of Favignana, in particular the so called Scalo Cavallo, marked by the presence of extraordinary hypogea determined by millenary stone extractive processes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
