Abstract
In the 19th century, orientalism and exoticism manifested themselves in Europe as tendencies supported by the invention of the myth of the Oriental and/or Muslim man as a decadent witness of a great past. The aforementioned lines by Enrico Onufrio seem representative of the cultural climate of that period. Nevertheless, we think that the passage can also be read as originating from an orientalist worldview or a similar worldview based on a “politics of alterity.”File | Dimensione | Formato | |
