Exposure to ionizing radiation for diagnostic investigations has aroused much concern in recent years both in scientific literature and in the media. The exposure has dramatically increased in the last two decades; in fact, CT represents 11% of diagnostic tests, but contributes 68% to the collective dose. On the other singing, a plethora of TC investigations, including screening of the thorax in smokers, virtual colonoscopy and the study of coronary, they are affirmed for the relative simplicity of execution and high diagnostic performance, sometimes alternatively to traditional and more expensive invasive techniques. Between these investigations, the Cardio TC (CTC) has achieved a remarkable success with a wide range of clinical indications currently available.
