The analysis of polymorphisms in FSH receptor (FSHR)-29 G>A, Thr307Ala and Asn680Ser has been extensively associated to ovarian response to gonadotropins. The objective of this observational prospective study was to understand if the presence of these FSHR polymorphisms could be used for a better tailoring of stimulation protocols in 140 patients undergoing assisted reproduction techniques (ART). The majority of patients with poor ovarian response (<5 oocytes) (57%) had GA + AA variants. whereas the majority of patients with good response (≥5 oocytes) (67%) had wild type, for-29 G>A polymorphism. This knowledge could be introduced in routine clinical practice for providing a specific counselling and for choosing the best stimulation protocol.
