The project Innovation of Cerealiculture in Sicily (ICS) was created to organize an innovative service of technical assistance for Sicilian durum wheat producers, in order to improve the productions in terms of quantity and, above all, quality. The final outcome of the project will be the SATIC platform (Sistema di Assistenza Tecnica Innovativa in Cerealicoltura) that is configured as a Decision Support System able to assist the farmer during the different stages of the growing cycle of durum wheat, through a web interface. The program will indicate the best periods to proceed with specific farming operations, the products and quantities to be used for nutrition, how and when to intervene in the event of outbreaks of diseases, with particular reference to the "Foot rot and root rot" of cereals, a disease now widespread in the Sicilian areal and particularly troublesome due to the large reductions of production that can cause.
