Le città del dialogo

Palermo is, more than the others, among the cities that can be named cities of dialogue. It has been a city of sea that maintains in its urban structure the memory of different people that have built and shaped it. For this reason it has become, for a certain historical period, as a myth of the pacific cohabitation of people. As a consequence of the the recent migratory flows, Palermo is today a knot of the mobility in the Mediterranean Basin that needs of specific models of knowledge of the urban reality and, moreover, of the prevision and of the planning of new spaces where to live. The theme of the dialogue is introduced through some projects that are meaningful also for a new sense that they give to the contemporary architecture, that finds in the dialogue a tool for an ethical and cultural awareness founded upon the knowledge and the acceptance of the other.

Palermo è tra le città che, più di altre, possono essere annoverate tra le città del dialogo. È stata città di mare che mantiene impressa nella sua struttura fisica la memoria di popoli differenti che l’hanno costruita e formata, fino a diventare, per un certo periodo storico, mito della pacifica convivenza di popoli. In seguito ai recenti flussi migratori, Palermo si offre come nodo della mobilità del Mediterraneo, il che impone specifici modelli di conoscenza della realtà urbana oltre che la previsione e la progettazione di nuovi spazi dell’abitare. Il tema del dialogo viene presentato attraverso alcune occasioni di progetto, significative anche per una nuova attribuzione di senso all’architettura, che ritrova nel dialogo lo strumento operativo per una consapevolezza etica e culturale fondata sulla conoscenza e l’accettazione dell’altro.
