This paper analyzes some cinematic representations from the (and about the) romanì world. This paper aims to cast a look over the cinematic narrations not only as artistic representations, but also as sociologically relevant evidences. The paper also invites us to undertake a thorough reflection over the issues related to the cultural identity of the romanì people; over the relations between them and the settled population and, finally, over the ways in which the many musks of the roma people and on the roma people are built. These issues will be dealt with by trying to find some sort of third way between the “objectivity” of the sociological data and the subjectivity of observations – certainly not scientific, but no less interesting - drawn from the film production. For this way, the paper will emphasize as it is possible to capture, through artistic sensibility, aspects of a phenomenon which are overlooked by more attentive social scientists.

Il paper analizza alcune rappresentazioni cinematografiche dal (e sul) mondo Rom, guardando a tali rappresentazioni non soltanto nella loro valenza artistica, ma anche come rilevanti testimonianze sociologiche.

Abstract

This paper analyzes some cinematic representations from the (and about the) romanì world.
