The article explores the irreverent, playful, and boldly nonconformist soul of the celebrated Italian architect and designer. Through the pioneering use of experimental materials, deliberate imperfections, and organic shapes, Gaetano Pesce (La Spezia, November 8, 1939 – New York, April 3, 2024) transformed architecture and everyday objects into acts of poetic and political provocation. This contribution analyzes how the author's 'playful design' (disegno monello) rejects the rigor of rationalism in favor of diversity, chance, and error, celebrating imperfection as the only true expression of the human condition.

Abstract
The article explores the irreverent, playful, and boldly nonconformist soul of the celebrated Italian architect and designer. Through the pioneering use of experimental materials, deliberate imperfections, and organic shapes, Gaetano Pesce (La Spezia, November 8, 1939 – New York, April 3, 2024) transformed architecture and everyday objects into acts of poetic and political provocation. This contribution analyzes how the author's 'playful design' (disegno monello) rejects the rigor of rationalism in favor of diversity, chance, and error, celebrating imperfection as the only true expression of the human condition.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
