The paper, as the title already suggests, refers to the prospect of a ‘new regionalism’, which, when implemented in accordance with dynamics driven by the interests of the communities concerned, is situated within a framework of functional differentiation. To this end the path to follow is not that already set out in Law No. 86 of 2024, the problematic aspects of which – concerning both procedural and substantive matters – are highlighted; differentiated regionalism, in fact, cannot contradict the overarching principles of solidarity and unity that underpin the republican system. Rather, the paper focuses on the possibility of implementing a macro-regional strategy through the agreements referred to in Article 117(8) of the Constitution, as an alternative route for the revitalisation of Italian regionalism
