This study investigates habitat fragmentation and vegetation dynamics in Chamaerops humilis communities in Italy. We analysed the potential natural distribution of these communities and the current fragmentation of existing phytocoenoses using landscape metrics. The results indicate a landscape characterized by relatively large but sparsely distributed habitat patches with a high degree of isolation, highlighting the importance of fragmentation patterns for the conservation of this representative Mediterranean species.

Abstract
This study investigates habitat fragmentation and vegetation dynamics in Chamaerops humilis communities in Italy. We analysed the potential natural distribution of these communities and the current fragmentation of existing phytocoenoses using landscape metrics. The results indicate a landscape characterized by relatively large but sparsely distributed habitat patches with a high degree of isolation, highlighting the importance of fragmentation patterns for the conservation of this representative Mediterranean species.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
