The historic gardens of Palermo’s aristocratic villas built north in the “Piana dei Colli” district have today, as a result of massive building speculation, been deprived of large portions or have completely disappeared and been replaced by the new suburbs of the second half of the 20th century. The contribution aims to offer an overview of the state of preservation and restoration, describing the relative practices of use and possible strategies for the preservation and valorisation of these gardens in relation to contemporary suburbs.
