Ptilostemon greuteri is one of the rarest and most threatened species of the Sicilian flora, with an extremely narrow distribution and a high vulnerability to wildfires. The species occurs in only two populations on the eastern slope of Monte Inici (Trapani), where particular microclimatic conditions allow its survival. Since 2019, a conservation project has been underway aimed at monitoring natural populations, analysing its eco- logical requirements, and testing translocation and reinforcement interventions. The development of a high-resolution Species Distribution Model made it possible to identify potentially suitable sites in north-western Sicily, where between 2021 and 2024 pilot actions were carried out involving the planting of nursery-grown seedlings produced from seeds and the dispersal of seedballs. The first results highlight different responses among the sites, confirming the importance of selecting appropriate translocation areas and ensuring protection from disturbance.

Abstract
The first results highlight different responses among the sites, confirming the importance of selecting appropriate translocation areas and ensuring protection from disturbance.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
