This paper analyzes, through situated qualitative research, the forms of diffuse design emerging in the Ballarò neighborhood [Palermo] as adaptive responses to urban marginalization processes. The study investigates how everyday practices of self-organization, co-production, and care for space generate informal social infrastructures capable of supporting local ecosystems of social innovation. Framing design as an enabling infrastructure, the work proposes a systemic reading of emerging initiatives, highlighting tensions, potentials, and limits in their institutional scalability.

Abstract
This paper analyzes, through situated qualitative research, the forms of diffuse design emerging in the Ballarò neighborhood [Palermo] as adaptive responses to urban marginalization processes. The study investigates how everyday practices of self-organization, co-production, and care for space generate informal social infrastructures capable of supporting local ecosystems of social innovation. Framing design as an enabling infrastructure, the work proposes a systemic reading of emerging initiatives, highlighting tensions, potentials, and limits in their institutional scalability.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
