Dépasser l’incommunicabilité via l’hétérolangue : proposition de classement des particularités lexicales

This paper looks at the analysis of the « heterolanguage » of exile in the collection Le sortilège et autres contes séphardites (1964) by Elisa Chimenti, one of the first female French-speaking writers from the Maghreb. First, we will look at how the characters’ linguistic choices reflect their emotional and ethnic-religious conflicts, focusing on the relationship between languages, religions and identities. Then, drawing on the notion of heterolingualism (Grutman 1997 ; Pruteanu 2012) and through a lexicological and lexicographic approach, which takes into account the classification grid provided by Claude Poirier (1995), we will present a classification of the lexical peculiarities of the heterolanguage of exile. Our aim is both to show how it proves to be a tool for breaking the incommunicability within the peoples of Morocco and to propose a classification model adaptable to numerous cases of heterolingualism.
