Destre e Costituzione. Culture e pedagogie politiche a confronto

The chapter reconstructs the MSI’s discourse on the Constitution. The MSI was a party that explicitly referred back to fascism, and its objections to the Constitution were rooted in a political culture critical of democracy. At the same time, the chapter examines other proposals for discussing and revising the Constitution, focusing in particular on Indro Montanelli, an intellectual representative of a liberal right that was not nostalgic for fascism, but was not anti-fascist either. The two viewpoints analysed are critical of the Constitution, at times radically so, but they express distinct political cultures, even though both tend to emphasize what they regarded as the dangerous relationship between anti-fascism and communism that would supposedly characterize it.
