This review revisits Pierre Bourdieu’s Les règles de l’art (1992), arguing for its continued relevance to contemporary semiotic and sociosemiotic research. Beyond its status as a foundational contribution to the sociology of literature, the book is examined as a theoretical framework for understanding the social conditions of symbolic production, circulation, and legitimation. Particular attention is devoted to Bourdieu’s concepts of field, habitus, and illusio, which are discussed as tools for overcoming the opposition between textual analysis and contextual explanation.

Abstract
This review revisits Pierre Bourdieu’s Les règles de l’art (1992), arguing for its continued relevance to contemporary semiotic and sociosemiotic research. Beyond its status as a foundational contribution to the sociology of literature, the book is examined as a theoretical framework for understanding the social conditions of symbolic production, circulation, and legitimation. Particular attention is devoted to Bourdieu’s concepts of field, habitus, and illusio, which are discussed as tools for overcoming the opposition between textual analysis and contextual explanation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
