In his Moïse l'insurgé, Jacob Rogozinski proposes a deconstruction of Judaism, combining the political and at the same time theological register of discourse, starting with the key words of ‘theo-democracy’ and ‘monotheism’. In this paper, after broadly describing Rogozinski’s proposal, we develop his idea of a ‘mosaic device’, i.e. a set of practices and discourses that, while lying between Moses and his God, are also traceable outside the biblical text and the Jewish cultural and religious tradition. A problematic relationship thus emerges between the regulative unity of the divine and the historical multiplicity of religions, and between the “monarchical” unity of power and the “democratic” multiplicity of its exercise. Finally, some possible repercussions of such a discourse on the difficult topicality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are analysed
