Nuove ‘case in serie’ tra temporaneità e stanzialità dell’abitare

The essay critically reconstructs the relationship between type, typification and the industrialization of housing architecture, retracing key twentieth-century experiences up to the most recent experiments in contemporary prefabricated housing. The contribution analyses the progressive shift from the notion of type as a “formal invariant” towards logics of seriality and standardization, highlighting how industrial production has gradually reduced the typological question in favour of economic and constructive requirements. Through the analysis of selected case studies, the paper highlights the possibility of a new synthesis between industrialization, spatial quality and the relationship with the landscape. Contemporary experiences seem in fact to respond to themes such as temporary dwelling, sustainability and reconnection with nature, reopening the need for a typological reflection capable of addressing the transformations of contemporary living.

Il saggio ricostruisce criticamente il rapporto tra tipo, tipizzazione e industrializzazione dell’architettura abitativa, ripercorrendo alcune esperienze fondamentali del Novecento fino alle più recenti sperimentazioni sulla casa prefabbricata contemporanea. Il contributo analizza il progressivo slittamento dalla nozione di tipo come “invariante formale” verso logiche di serialità e standardizzazione, evidenziando come la produzione industriale abbia progressivamente ridotto la questione tipologica a favore di esigenze economico-costruttive. Attraverso l'analisi di casi studio il testo mette in luce la possibilità di una nuova sintesi tra industrializzazione, qualità spaziale e rapporto con il paesaggio. Le esperienze contemporanee sembrano infatti rispondere ai temi dell’abitare temporaneo, della sostenibilità e del riavvicinamento alla natura, riaprendo la necessità di una riflessione tipologica capace di affrontare le trasformazioni dell’abitare contemporaneo.
