This article examines the role of teaching evaluation in the careers of university professors and identifies three key hypotheses: a) the first aspect concerns the evaluation of individual professors’ teaching, which is part of university teaching quality assurance and primarily draws on student opinion; b) thesecondaspectconcernstheidentificationofcasesofviolation of teaching obligations, giving rise to disciplinary, administrative, and accounting liability; c) the third aspect considers the importance of teaching evaluation in the selection procedures for full- and associate-level professors and researchers, also taking into account the indications derived from the “Bernini” bill.
