Le Armi nel Castellammare di Palermo

The essay deals with an inventory of Castellammare di Palermo, written in 1478 for the death of the Castellan, named Giovanni Antonio Fuxa. After a brief analysis of the castle’s history through the second half of the fifteenth century, the work continues with the description of the route and of the items encountered by royal officials who were responsible for notifying the objects. In fact, this document helps to measure the military capacity of Palermo in XV sec., also by comparison with papers from the same period. In addition to weapons and ammunition of the city, we find typical objects of daily life (like a painting of the Madonna, at the entrance of the fort), while others reveal old battles or skirmishes with the most feared enemy (like targuectamor isca, or Darga Murisca vecha, which are located in the main tower)
