Infrastructure has continually introduced new approaches to architectural theory and practice. Its evolution over centuries is closely linked to shifts in the core paradigms of each era's socio-cultural context. This article examines the evolving concept of urban infrastructure (urban railroads and highways), introducing the two polarities of Heroisms and Hybrids, shifting towards some forthcoming scenarios presented at the conclusion. Following the transformation of an early generation of ancestors, it discusses how, relentlessly echoing imaginaries, politics, and economics, until investing our present environmental changes, infrastructure is ever so appealing.
