La voce del prigioniero di Ururi. Tra i documenti del Lautarchiv di Berlino

From the Phonogrammarchiv of Wien and the Lautarchiv Berlin have emerged audio recordings produced by the two respective phonographic commissions tasked with carrying out a huge audio and video documentation project featuring subjects found in prison camps during the First World War. Among these documents there are recordings made with prisoners from various Italian regions, including a young farmer from Ururi, a community in the province of Campobasso where Arbërisht is still spoken. These are recordings of a well-known folk song, a version of the Parable of the Prodigal Son and a folk tale in the Arbëreshë dialect used by the prisoner from Molise. With the launch of the program to publish the sound archives held by these two impor tant institutions, these valuable Arbëreshë documents are now easily accessible. On this occasion, we will limit ourselves to provide their transcription and translation into Italian with the aim of offering a useful resource to those who wish to examine them for an ade quate dialectological and/or demological analysis.
