Subjectivity and Discourse: Lacanian Reflections on Collectivity and Individuality – This essay aims to investigate the relationship between collectivity and individuality as a conflictual dynamic, starting from a reflection on Jacques Lacan’s thought. Lacan’s conception of the subject, as both barred and desiring, portrays it as a void, a rupture, within any totality – whether individual or collective. Beginningwith the analysis of L’agressivité en psychanalyse (1948), in which Lacan critiques ego psychology and portrays aggressiveness as a product of frustration and alienation stemming from the subject’s inscription within the discourse of the Other, the reflection will delve into the problem of the subject as residue within every discourse. This examination will be particularly informed by two Lacanian seminars: LeSéminaire. Livre VII. L’éthique de la psychanalyse (1960-1961) and Le Séminaire. Livre XVII. L’envers de la psychanalyse (1969-1970).
