Tra cultura filosofica e diritto: ecclesiastici e giuristi nell’Illuminismo siciliano

The aim of this article is to investigate the Enlightenment in Sicily through the relationship between clergy and the jurists. This paper analyses the meeting places of these two social categories in the second half of the 18th century. In particular, common philosophical training, participation in the same cultural journals and commonality of topics are studied. Ultimately, an attempt is made to enter into the complex relationship between clergy and the jurists in order to understand whether there is an irreconcilable opposition between them or a mutual participation in the formation of the Enlightenment in Sicily.
