This article examines the issue of athletes’ liability for injuries caused to opponents in combat sports, where the rules of the game themselves require conduct aimed at harming an adversary’s physical integrity. The author focuses on the evolution of the theory of sporting exemption, criticizing the recent orientation of the Court of Cassation which hopes for the abandonment of “the horizon of permitted risk in order to arrive at the usual criteria for ascertaining criminal responsibility in crimes characterized by the event”
