This contribution discusses Maurizio Ferraris’s book La pelle as a critical reflection on the nature of human thought in the age of artificial intelligence. The analysis emphasizes the embodied, technical, and teleological dimensions of human intelligence, contrasting them with the operational logic of AI systems. Ferraris argues that thinking is rooted in the body, shaped by needs, limits, and lived experience, and developed through a long-standing relationship with technology understood as a constitutive condition of humanity. Artificial intelligence, by contrast, is framed as a system of iteration and storage, lacking intentionality, purpose, and autonomy. Moving beyond alarmist narratives of technological domination, the text identifies the real challenge in the ecological and anthropological consequences of technological accumulation. From this perspective, design emerges as a critical practice mediating between human needs, technical systems, and the future of collective existence.

Abstract
From this perspective, design emerges as a critical practice mediating between human needs, technical systems, and the future of collective existence.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
